Conventional TURP surgery shaves the prostate from the inside, leaving tissue behind — which is why symptoms so often return. HoLEP works on an entirely different principle: the holmium laser traces the natural anatomical plane between the obstructing adenoma and the prostate capsule, detaching the entire overgrowth in one piece, the way a surgeon’s finger once did in open surgery — but bloodlessly, through the urethra, with no incision whatsoever.
